Office space

Office space

It’s been a week. Within record time we found and finalised a new office for Score Studios thanks to the sterling help of our real estate agents. Since December 1st we have a lovely big space just north of Yoyogi park, walking distance from Shinjuku.

Finding the office was probably the biggest task, but once Paul and I laid eyes on this space, and the price, we were sold. Paperwork was started almost immediately and, in true Japanese fashion, took a good few trees’ worth. Between the landlord’s contract, insurance, guarantors, agents and ward paperwork I have stamped more pieces of paper and travelled over Tokyo more than I wish to recall but within a couple of weeks we had the keys in our hand.

Previously we had eyed the metal nameplates in the lobby of our building thinking of how we’d tackle putting our company on there. However when we picked up the keys the realtor proudly showed us the Score Studios nameplate, also in the lift, with probably as much pride as we felt. Good show!

Within half a day we had put together our furniture and PCs, thanks to the efforts of the entire Score team. We even managed to get the internet connected on day 1, something that can take stupid amounts of time but luckily didn’t for a change.

No time to sit back, though. We are already hard at work while receiving good luck chocolate cake and bouquets of flowers from well wishers. We haven’t quite finished setting up everything we need, if Chuk’s intermittent cursing is anything to go by, but generally it was pretty smooth sailing.

This also means we can get back to our sadly neglected social media channels and hopefully breathe some life back into them. The Score blog is a start, but we’ve already been posting photos on our Facebook page and Google+ company page. Follow those now!
